Exclusive Clip from 'Stonehearst Asylum,' a New Thriller From the Director of 'Session 9'
Some directors make a movie early in their career that is so good they earn your attention every single time they make a movie, no matter what it is or who is in it. If you're a horror fan, Brad Anderson is one of those people. It's been 13 years since Session 9 came out, but it's still a superbly creepy, subtle film that continues to blow people away every time they discover it. And it's also precisely why we'll be excited about any time we see a "Directed by Brad Anderson" credit. Stonehearst Asylum is Anderson's latest movie, and it stars Jim Sturgess as a medical school grad who takes a position at a mental institution where not everything is as it seems (which tends to be the case in most stories written by Edgar Allen Poe). It's got a...

Watch: The 'ABCs of Death 2' Directors Pick The Greatest Movie Deaths of All Time
ABCs of Death 2 consists of 26 short films that each build toward different, creative, and totally messed up ways of killing off people. It's got zombies and wizards and assassins and killer hamburgers, and that's just naming a small, small handful of the insanity in store. But what do the minds behind the movies actually think are the best movie deaths of all time? What nightmares fueled their own imaginations? Well, wonder no more thanks to this supercut of the director's picks, which contains some very famous and also very obscure selections.  We've also got a quote from our favorite director in the bunch (remember Steve Kostanski?) about his choice. SHOGUN ASSASSIN (Steven Kostanski) For me, death in movies is most entertaining when it's absurd...

Let’s get caught up on some of our other favorite spandex-clad heroes as we head into the weekend. Watch What Happens When an Alien Bursts Out of Some Guy's Chest in Real Life
YouTuber and magician MagicofRahat (aka Rahat Hussein, aka that guy who did that invisible driver drive-through prank) has his Halloween costume all sorted out. He created an alien chestburster, à la Ridley Scott’s 1979 film Alien. Modeled after John Hurt’s Kane in the film, the executive officer who becomes a host for the slimy creature that punches a hole through his chest, Hussein’s costume is a vivid remind of why Scott’s film still creeps us out. Hussein takes his grotesque getup to the streets to scare some passersby. Screaming ensues. Fun fact: the chestburster alien in Scott’s movie was inspired by Francis Bacon’s painting Three Studies for Figures at the Base of a Crucifixion and screenwriter Dan O’Bannon’s battle...

Eight Horror Board Games That Seriously Need to Be Turned into Movies
There are not only a bunch of board games out there that could make incredible movies, there are board games that could make incredible horror movies. These are frightening, tense experiences that lend themselves to cinematic interpretation, even more than something like a Ouija board. Hey Hollywood, if you're going to start making horror movies based on board games, why don't you look at these?   Arkham Horror The Game: Up to eight players team up to explore H.P. Lovecraft's infamous city of Arkham, Massachusetts, which has been overrun with monsters and evil magic. The body count is high on both sides, as players play against the game itself through an ingenious system that actually makes it feel like the cardboard tokens and cards are reacting to your...

Look, Interstellar isn't out yet, so this column has been sitting around and twiddling its thumbs, waiting for the arrival of Christopher Nolan's science fiction epic. With nothing else to grab the attention of science fiction fans, how about we delve into the latest, greatest and most interesting sci-fi movie news to emerge over the past week or so?   Disney Has Lost the John Carter of Mars Rights As one of the 11 people who actually really dug John Carter, I look at the news that Disney lost the rights to Edgar Rice Burroughs' science fiction adventure series with mixed emotions. Check Out These Rare Shots of the Amazing Models Used for the Original 'Star Wars' Trilogy
Thanks to the birth of CGI, most films these days create their elaborate visual magic with the use of computers. These rare behind-the-scenes photos from the original Star Wars trilogy demonstrate just how much craftsmanship went into creating things found only in a galaxy far, far away. There are 140 photos on display in this Imgur album from user Joinyouinthesun, and they give us a rare peek into a world many of us have never seen – a world where movie magic is created.
