About: Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center’s new cancer center – Spotsylvania Regional Cancer Center – is now open and features state-of-the-art radiation oncology services jointly delivered by Virginia Commonwealth University Massey Cancer Center. The Spotsylvania Regional Cancer Center, located in the Pogonia Medical Arts Building at Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center, encompasses 7,000 square feet and features a Varian TrueBeam high energy linear accelerator and 4-D General Electric Optima Simulator that offer innovative radiation treatments, including image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT), intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), high dose rate after loading, partial breast irradiation, prone breast treatment and respiratory gating.
Michael Porrazzo, M.D., of Massey serves as the director of radiation oncology at Spotsylvania Regional Cancer Center (SRCC). Board-certified in radiation oncology with more than 20 years of experience in delivering leading-edge radiation treatments, Porrazzo will lead the SRCC radiation oncology team to provide multidisciplinary evaluation, treatment planning and care for all types of adult cancer in collaboration with local oncologists and other physicians specializing in cancer-related care who provide medical and surgical oncology services at SRCC.
