Comics on Film: 5 X-Men Villains That Should Appear in Future Films
The X-Men are one of Marvel Comics' most iconic brands and well after the film series almost seemingly killed itself with misguided entries like 2006's X-Men: The Last Stand and 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine, the ship was righted in a big way this year with the release of X-Men: Days of Future Past. If you stayed until the end of the credits, you saw what awaits the Mutant Marvels in their next film, due out in 2016: Apocalypse. Now that we know that Apocalypse will be embodied by actor Oscar Isaac, Comics on Film thought it would be a good idea to explore five other X-Men villains that have yet to appear in the film series, but by all accounts really should in subsequent films. Sometimes its tricky to find the right opposition to a team...

The Best Movie Trailers of the Week
Welcome back to Best Movie Trailers of the Week, a column where we handpick the best new movie trailers that have arrived online over the past week.   Pan This definitely isn’t what we were expecting from Joe Wright’s Pan, but his spin on the J.M. Barrie classic does come as a nice surprise. Hook didn’t get much love from critics, but we've watched the film countless times and still adore it, so we're really enjoying the fact that Pan shares some tonal and stylistic similarities to that. It’s got a somewhat theatrical feel to it with rich, vibrant sets, eccentric costumes and fun, playful performances -- and then Christina Perri’s “I Believe” beautifully pulls it all together.      Exodus: Gods...

'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Trailer: The Geeky Details You May Not Have Noticed
When the first teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens played this morning, it provided me with a truly geeky, communal movie experience in a way only Star Wars can. I was lucky enough to be at the Alamo Drafthouse, who was putting on a special event where founder Tim League had assembled a panel of movie nerds, including's own John Gholson, to watch the trailer over and over and then talk about it between rewatches.  At first it seemed like we couldn't possibly spend an entire hour talking about 88 seconds. Ninety minutes later and we were still going strong. And since I was able to stare at freeze frames of this thing in 4K on a huge screen and then debate the meaning and implications of details with nearly 200 friends and strangers, here are...

Before 'Beetlejuice' and 'Batman,' Watch Tim Burton Direct 'The Jar' on 'Alfred Hitchcock Presents'
Before he was making Batman and Beetlejuice, director Tim Burton did some work in the field of episodic television. One of those credits came during the mid-1980s revival of anthology series Alfred Hitchcock Presents, where Burton was tasked with adapting Ray Bradbury’s story The Jar. If you ever wondered what a Tim Burton television episode on a major network would look like, well, wonder no more… Burton takes Bradbury’s 1944 story and gives it his own unique spin while staying relatively true to the source material. The television take makes things more modernized (its set in the ‘80s, complete with all the hilarious fashions and hairdos of the era, and it makes the main character an artist instead of a farmer), and injects some of...

What Movie Family Would You Like to Eat Thanksgiving Dinner With?
Thanksgiving is a time to give thanks and a time to eat a lot of food. It's also a time to spend with family, with whom you share your thankfulness and your feast. Not all of us are fans of spending a whole holiday with the whole family, though, or at least that's the cliche idea that has mostly been promoted by the movies. How many plots set during Thanksgiving involve anything but the most dyfunctional clans ever seen? Look elsewhere, though, and there are a lot of great families in the movies, folks you might wish were your own or whom you'd rather spend Thanksgiving with. Or at least that you'd like to eat the holiday meal with, not necessarily as a substitute but just for fun. There are those who'd provide a wild occasion, like the Vanderhof/Sycamore...
