Rumor Buzz: The Next 'Star Wars' Movie Will Be About These Classic Characters
Right now is a hot time for Star Wars news. The first trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens is about to drop, and to add more fuel to the ridiculous amount of anticipation building inside our Jedi-lovin' hearts, a new report today claims to reveal the plot for the first Star Wars spin-off movie, due to hit theaters in 2016, to be directed by Gareth Edwards (Godzilla). According to Slashfilm, the spin-off will be a sort-of prequel to A New Hope in that it will follow the rebels' attempt to steal the Death Star plans from the Empire. Remember, the rebels already have the plans in their possession at the beginning of A New Hope, so this movie will show us how they got them... and apparently it will be from an unlikely group of individuals. Bounty hunters. Yup, the...

First Look: Arnold Schwarzenegger Is an Older Terminator, Plus: Quentin Tarantino's 'Hateful Eight' Cast
Here's an early behind-the-scenes look at a couple of big 2015 movies you may be familiar with. Both images debuted on Twitter, and both reveal enough to whet our movie-nerd appetites for more. Here's what appears to be either a makeup test or early poster design for next summer's Terminator: Genisys, revealing an aged Arnold Schwarzenegger as an equally as aged T-800. This image was reportedly discovered by a German group touring the Paramount Studios backlot, and it gives us a rough-around-the-edges idea of what Arnold will look like when he reprises the role he first donned all the way back in 1984. And... yup, that's pretty much how we remember him. Expect to see more from this one before the year is out. Terminator: Genisys officially hits theaters on July...

After weeks of speculation it looks as though we finally have an answer to the most pressing movie question of 2014: When will we see the first trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens? The answer appears to be sooner than you think. While rumors have been circulating that the first teaser for J.J. Abrams’ highly anticipated sci-fi sequel would appear attached to prints of Peter Jackson’s third (and final) Hobbit movie, it looks as though we’ll all be returning to a galaxy far, far away a bit earlier than December. Here's what we know so far. We expect the list of theaters to grow, so we'll be updating this post throughout the week. Regal Cinemas has revealed that the new trailer will debut at nine of the company’s theaters on Black Friday...

The Last Sci-fi Blog: Why 'Mockingjay - Part 1' Is the Science Fiction Movie We Need
A few years ago, everyone seemed content to blow the Hunger Games movies off as more young-adult nonsense; a watered-down version of Battle Royale for little girls. Now, it's hard to believe anyone could have been so blind. The Hunger Games and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire were huge smash hits, but you don't make $400 million on the backs of tween girls alone. You earn that money by appealing to a wider audience and these movies have been huge hits amongst all kinds of people. Audiences of all tastes seem to dig these movies and this weekend, they're going to especially dig the The Hunger Games: Mockingjay -- Part 1, which takes the series in a dark, startling new direction and sets us up for one helluva final film.  What's most satisfying about this...

The Best Movie Trailers of the Week
Welcome back to Best Movie Trailers of the Week, a column where we handpick the best new movie trailers that have arrived online over the past week. Cinderella This first trailer for Kenneth Branagh’s Cinderella is basically a play by play of the familiar tale, but in this case there’s nothing wrong with that. Rather than put a dark spin on the classic or give the iconic character a fresh edge, it seems as though Branagh’s rendition is a faithful retelling strengthened by mesmerizingly vibrant imagery.   Project Almanac The latest trailer for Project Almanac may have a few familiar components, but the piece moves to a swift, catchy beat and has such a slick feel to it that a couple of high school stereotypes in no way detracts from the fact...
