It’s almost time for the 2010 Kids’ Convention! This year’s Kids’ Convention is focused on Planet Earth. Kids can learn about the Earth at various exhibits throughout the Spotsylvania Towne Centre. Weather you’re at the NASA Langley exhibit…“Earth: Your Home, NASA Mission”…learning about air quality, clouds and climate change to building your very own TORNADO in a bottle or checking out the Animals of Busch Gardens…Kids Convention will have a little something for everyone!
The best part about everything at Kids’ Convention…IT’S FREE!!! You will not have to pay to do anything at Kids’ Convention!
NASA LANGLEY EXHIBIT
B101.5 and NASA Langley have partnered together to help teach kids about their home…Planet Earth. NASA Langley will present “Earth: Your Home. NASA’s Mission.” with information, games and prizes related to air quality, clouds and climate change.
NASA Langley Exhibit will run throughout Kids’ Convention.
MAD SCIENCE FUN STATIONS
Electric Lab Demo: Use the Van de Graaff static energy generator to produce indoor lightning and thunder. Kids can touch the generator and have their hair stand on end. Great photo opportunity!
Tornado Tubes: Kids will create their own tornado in a bottle to take home. Also on display for kids interaction will be a large scale tornado maker (approximately 3 feet high) which makes a vortex using a fan and mist. Information will be available about tornadoes and hurricanes.
Capture a Wave: Using three different liquids, kids will make a wave chamber they can take home. At the booth will be a hands-on activity where kids can try to clean up an oil spill along with demonstrations about wave action.
Mad Science Fun Stations will run daily throughout Kids’ Convention.
MAD SCIENCE - SPECTACULAR SCIENCE SHOW
A Taste of Mad Scienceis an exciting interactive presentation that will “Wow!” both children and parents alike. The fast paced, high-energy performance combines a little bit of comedy with a lot of science to generate a whole bunch of fun. Mad Scientists will harness the power of ordinary air through extraordinary demonstrations involving giant gravity defying levitating balls and “dueling” Vortex Generators. Spectators will be mesmerized by the Mad Science Paper Airplane, an explosion or two and the science behind movie special effects. Children from the audience participate in all the demonstrations. Everyone is sure to be left with memories that will last well past the event!

THE ANIMALS OF BUSCH GARDENS
The Animals of Busch Gardens return to Kids’ Convention. You can learn about the various animals at Busch Gardens during the live stage show at the Food Court or you can get one-on-one with the animals at the Busch Gardens booth!

TY-RONES WORLD
Ty-Rones World featuring Comedian Uncle Ty-Rone and a Box Full of Fun is a high energy ventriloquism show with lots of audience participation geared to today's youth and families with self produced positive hip-pop music and clean comedy. Ty-Rone's World offer children advice on family togetherness, reading and succeeding, eat right and be hype, caring for your community, educating yourself , putting your best on your test, shake it in the hula-hoop, and how to cope with bullies.
