Fredericksburg (WBQB/WFVA) -- The head of the Fredericksburg area Food Bank says they are still trying to get more turkeys for Thanksgiving. Oya Oliver says they had to buy 2-thousand turkeys last week because the number of donated turkeys coming in was not keeping pace with the demand. She says even at this late date, turkeys are being accepted. She's hoping to be able to give out 3-thousand turkeys by Wednesday. Oliver says some schools have had turkey drives. She says donated food or money help them help the needy. Oliver says they'll be giving out turkeys right thru closing on Wednesday. The food bank is located in the Lee Hill Industrial Park.
