Richmond (WBQB/WFVA/AP) -- More than 450 couples applied for marriage licenses in DC during the first week they were available to same-sex couples. A Courthouse spokeswoman says the 466 applications received from both gay and straight couples is much higher than the 50 or so applications normally received in a week. Couples can pick up their license three business days after applying. Tuesday was the first day couples could pick up their licenses and actually marry in DC.
