Witnesses report engine problem prior to Louisa crash

Mineral (WBQB/WFVA/AP)  -- Witnesses reported hearing an engine problem before a twin-engine plane crashed in Louisa, killing the pilot. According to a preliminary federal report, several witnesses said at least one engine didn't sound right after the Cessna T303 Crusader took off from Louisa County Airport last Thursday. The plane crashed minutes later about a quarter mile from the airport into the front yard of a residence. The report by the National Transportation Safety Board says two witnesses reported seeing smoke coming from the plane before it crashed. The pilot, 62-year-old James Youngquist of Reston, had stopped in Louisa to refuel en route from Manassas to Danville. The investigation is continuing.
