(DC)- Four black women who helped pioneer the space race at the NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton are being honored with Congressional Gold Medals.  Virginia Senators Mark Warner and Tim Kaine co-sponsored the Hidden Figures Congressional Gold Medal Act, which was signed on Friday by President Trump.  The women worked in areas ranging from engineering and mathematics to computer programming in the early days of U.S. manned spaceflights.  The book and movie “Hidden Figures” helped propel their accomplishments into the national spotlight.
