(Henrico)- The “Rebels” nickname for a Henrico County school is officially gone. Douglas Freeman High School has been searching for a new mascot since announcing the Confederate-inspired Rebel name would be retired. The principal says the school will be known as the Mavericks. It was the favorite among four choices submitted in a community survey.
