Come Walk with Us!
Enjoy a spring walk through the North Anna Battlefield Park, owned by the American Battlefield Trust, which commemorates the Battle of North Anna. The battle was fought from May 23 to May 26, 1864, between the Union Army of the Potomac commanded by Lt. Gen. Ulysses S. Grant and Maj. Gen. George G. Meade, and the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia commanded by Gen. Robert E. Lee in Hanover County, Virginia.
On this walk, you will view some of the best-preserved examples of Civil War entrenchments and rifle pits in the country. There are many historic markers and signs along the trail that tell the history of the battle. (Note that due to some moderate hills or steps, we do not recommend wheelchairs or strollers on this walk.) You can walk at your own pace along the 5k or 10k routes, or you can join us for an optional group walk at 10AM! Join us after your walk where we’ll be offering delicious brats, sauerkraut, and other goodies (donations welcome)! Contact Roger Carr at (540) 429-2239; fredericksburgwalkingclub@gmail.com
