Join the Fredericksburg Area Museum (FAM) on October 24th at 7:00 pm for a guided tour of its exhibition A Magical Collection with Disney collector Mr. John Atkins. The exhibit features rare and one-of-a-kind Disney pieces and park memorabilia collected over the years. Mr. Atkins’ love for Disney started while visiting the 1964 New York World’s Fair, “As a 7-year-old, I remember to this day being amazed at all the cool things I saw!” His fascination has continued through adulthood, as he travels far and wide to collect objects. In addition to learning more about Walt Disney and his creative team, participants will have the opportunity to see very rare pieces not on display and can talk one-on-one with Mr. Atkins.
This program is FREE of charge; registration is not required but appreciated as space is limited. To register please contact Theresa Cramer, tcramer@famcc.org, or 540-371-3037, ext. 138. A Magical Collection is generously sponsored by Lewis Insurance Associates and runs through December 31st.
A Magical Collection is located in the FAM’s People’s Gallery. The Fredericksburg area is full of collections, from match-box cars to sport-memorabilia, and FAM’s People’s Gallery showcases these unique collections. Rotating on a yearly basis, visitors will be surprised to see what treasures are hidden in our area. Collectors wishing to showcase their collections are encouraged to contact the museum with a short description of the objects and a brief synopsis of what their collection signifies to them. Please send information to info@famcc.org.
