Virginia Bill Could Require Mental Health Courses In Public Schools

(Richmond)-A new bill created to address mental health in the classroom is making its way through the Virginia General Assembly. The bill would require students at the elementary, middle, and high school levels to take a mental health class. Virginia’s Board of Education would have to consult with mental health experts and develop curriculum guidelines that would be used to create the classes. After that, the board would submit the recommendations to the state board of health for approval.
