ELLIOTT’S CONDITION
Elliott has aplastic anemia and her body doesn’t make enough platelets and neutrophils, which means she has basically no immunity and is very high risk. Right now it’s a minimum of 2 transfusions a week via her picc line (permanent IV) to keep her stable. She is in desperate need of a bone marrow transplant, but the registry has no donor matches.
THE PLAN
I want to do everything I can to make sure Elliott’s brilliance gets to shine for as long as it should. She is a wonderful little girl. We are working with Be The Match and we are on a mission to:
1. raise awareness and add donors in an effort to find a match for Elliott by March 30th (her scheduled timeframe for needing a donor); and
2. dispell the myths of bone marrow donation and show how easy it can be for the donor. I didn’t realize that in 85% of cases, bone marrow donation is very similar to donating plasma – a much easier process than medical dramas make it out to be.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
1. Sign up to be a donor and see if you are a match at this event!
2. Share her story and this event and signup link: my.bethematch.org/Ellisaurus.
