We invite you to learn Bomba! The Afro-Puerto Rican music and dance inherited from our ancestors!!!

Traditional bomba involves percussion instruments, a call/response singing and dancers. The dancer makes body figures called ‘piquetes’ and the lead drummer –called the ‘primo’ or ‘subidor’– interprets them simultaneously in the drum. In these workshops you will have the opportunity to learn how to play the drums, maraca or cuás, and also to learn how to dance to the drum!

*Bomba Percussion Workshop 2:30pm to 4pm – $20 per teen & adult/$5 per child

*Bomba Dance Workshop 4:30pm to 6:30pm – $30 per teen & adult /$10 per child

*Both workshops for $40 online/adults only

*Children admission age: 6 to 12 years old

*If you are bringing more than one child between 6 and 12 years old to either workshop, then each child pays $5

*5 years old and younger enter free!

*We will provide drums, but if you have a conga or djembe, feel free to bring it and let us know in your registration form.

*There are limited number of spaces for the percussion workshop, the sooner you register, the better.

The parking of the Dorothy Hart Community Center is behind the building. Turn on Charles Street to find the parking lot.

We will have bomba skirts to be borrowed. Female attendees are encouraged to bring their own long **full-circle** skirts or scarves.
