The Stafford County Democratic Committee will hold its REORGANIZATION CAUCUS on Saturday, Jan. 18 at 10 am in the Board Chambers of the Stafford County Government Center, 1300 Courthouse Road. Doors open at 9:30 am. At the reorganization caucus, all Democrats in Stafford County will have the opportunity to elect new members to the SDC (approve membership). Anyone not inside the Board Chambers at 10 a.m. may not participate in the reorganization caucus but will be invited to participate in the first meeting of the 2020-21 Stafford County Democratic Committee immediately following the reorganization caucus.
As of December 31, 2019, existing membership in the 2018-19 Stafford County Democratic Committee has expired. This means that any current member of the SDC will need to file a Declaration of Candidacy Form (same as a membership application form) to become a member of the 2020-21 Stafford County Democratic Committee. Any non SDC member interested in joining the 2020-21 Stafford County Democratic Committee must also file a Declaration of Candidacy Form (same as a membership application form) to become a member at the reorganization caucus. Both existing and prospective members must file a Declaration of Candidacy Form by 9 p.m. on Jan. 11. It must be received by the SDC by this date and time. You can not run for SDC office or vote unless you meet this deadline. The Form may be mailed to the Stafford County Democratic Committee’s post office box or e-mailed directly to the Chairman at staffordvademocrats@gmail.com. Applicants for membership must pay a $35 fee or request a waiver from the Chair. The fee is payable through ActBlue (https://secure.actblue.com/donate/stafforddems) or by check (either mailed with an application or at the door).
Immediately after the reorganization caucus, the 2020-21 Stafford County Democratic Committee will hold its first meeting. It will be a brief meeting to elect officers. Anyone who has failed to file a Declaration of Candidacy Form by the deadline may petition for membership after the election of officers.
The elected officer positions are: Chair, Senior Vice Chair, 1st Vice Chair, 2nd Vice Chair, Parliamentarian, Treasurer, Secretary, and Sergeant-at-Arms. Nominations for these positions will be taken from the floor.
