Start Thanksgiving Day off with Old Dominion Humane Society’s (ODHS) second annual “Gobble Wobble Hike” at the adoption center at 8:45 a.m. on Thursday, November 28. The public is invited to meet at the ODHS facility doors (8:45 a.m.), where volunteers will match them with rescue dogs to take on an invigorating hike.
Hikers will transport their rescue dog partners in their cars, and crates are provided by ODHS. The caravan will head to a local trail to hike until 11:45 a.m.
Enjoy some exercise, a chance to socialize with others in the community and the opportunity to get the rescue dogs out for a few hours as their Thanksgiving treat. (For those interested in a slower pace or a shorter hike, the Saturday Stroll is scheduled every week.)
ODHS is located at 3602 Lafayette Boulevard in Fredericksburg. Adoption events are Wednesdays from 5-7 p.m., Fridays from 6-8 p.m. and Saturdays from 11-3 p.m. Applications in advance are preferred and take priority over walk-ins.
