Fossil Free Fredericksburg is excited to announce this years’ Youth Climate Crisis Conference. The conference will take place at Colonial Forge High School on February 29,2020 from 11:30 – 3:35 p.m. The address is 550 Courthouse Road, Stafford, Virginia.
This second solutions-based Fossil Free Fredericksburg (FFF) conference is being planned primarily by FFF student members from several local high schools: Colonial Forge, Brooke Point, North Stafford, Fredericksburg Academy and James Monroe. The program has been designed by the students for other high school students as well as community members who are interested in what they can do individually to reduce the impact of carbon fuels on our area. Presentation topics include What is the Climate Crisis All About? Conservation of Coral Reefs, Youth Advocacy, Public Policy legislation, Regenerative Agriculture, Sustainable Energy, and Social Justice. Activities for children will be held in the auditorium along with booths from local environmental organizations. More information and the agenda are posted at www.fossilfreefredericksburg.com.
Sponsors include the Colonial Forge High School Environmental Club, the Rappahannock Group Sierra Club, Colonel Paul and Lt. Colonel Lynn Munch (retired) and an anonymous graphic designer/printer. Several businesses from the Fredericksburg area, such as Jabberwocky Children’s Bookstore and Brocks Restaurant, have contributed items for raffles throughout the conference.
